The kids will be making paper mache snakes including bug eyes and slithery tongues then painting them for a truly unique look! Then it’s on to the exotic world of mask making! We will be creating masks using feathers, jewels, glitter, etc. Polymer clay is next, decorating plain wooden boxes using polymer clay and paint! For a fun filled four day camp.

AUGUST CAMPS:


“LETS PAINT!”   Arianna Bara 919 308 3700
Come and explore the world of painting! Our journey will take us through the basic elements of art: line, texture, shape, color and value. We will work large and loosely, building skills throughout the week. Your child will practice painting a variety of brushstrokes, lines and shapes and will learn the basics of mixing colors, tints and shades. The final painting will be a large and colorful flower still-life!

The class will meet daily August 11-15. There will be a morning class for ages 6-8 from 10-12:00p.m. and an afternoon class for ages 9 and up from 2-4p.m. Class size is limited to 10 so that each student can receive individualized attention. We will use acrylic paint for all work and quality watercolor paper for the final project.

Cost: $99.00 plus $10 materials fee due the first day of class.

“Altered Book Journal II”   Hilary Latimer 919 304 4801
In this follow up to the Altered Book Travel Journal class we will explore how to add doors, pockets, drawers and windows to an altered book.
This class will start in September   Cost: $150 + supplies

“Altered Book Gift Journal”   Hilary Latimer 919 304 4801
In this class we will make a treasured journal as a Christmas gift. Using the combined techniques covered in A.B. I & II we will add the use of transferred computer images, calligraphy and original art to either a blank journal or an altered book to create a truly unique gift. Come prepared to share your collected rubber stamps, papers, stories and friendship as the holiday season draws near.
This class will start in late Oct./early Nov.   Cost:$150 + supplies

“THE ALTERED SCARF!”   Hilary Latimer 919 304 4801
(A knit class with a twist!) Find out how to combine a knitted scarf with weaving, ribbons, beads and other interesting things in this zany off the wall knitting class. Come prepared to make a truly unusal scarf. You have never seen anything quite like it!
This class will include a field trip to the Hillsboro Yarn Shop to pick your fibers, some hard core knitting, and a leap of faith to create your own one of a kind “altered scarf”!
*You must be able to knit with even tension and should be comfortable with the knit stitch. We will be using your own size 10(or 10.5),13 and 15 circular or straight needles, as well as a large eyed tapestry needle and small beading needle. We will cover some vary basic aspects of weaving. All fibers used in the knitting portion of this scarf must be organic as I will be boiling your knitting between classes.
This class will start in the fall.
