Toby Luria

Toby Luria is a ceramic artist/painter/children’s book writer whose creations stem from her joyful interactions with the natural world.
Her masks seem to “grow” themselves…perhaps an expression of the tree spirits surrounding her. She greets each one respectfully, once they have taken form.
Her bowls and paintings are of an abstract nature that allow one to move toward a freedom of spirit from the interaction with the color, shapes, and forms expressed in clay or on canvas.
When one buys art work, they are bringing a sense of the artist’s energy into their home. Toby puts her best energy into her pieces in an effort to share with others.
She has enjoyed teaching ceramics to adults and children for several years in the Carrboro area, and has exhibited and sold her work in shows at the Carrboro Artscenter.
