Brydie Palmore’s motto is “Creating is a journey, not a destination.” Anonymous Brydie started her explorations by drawing and doodling as a child, moving on to oil painting while still a teenager in Pennsylvania. She continued her work both as hobby and as serious artist into the 1980s. She lived for a number of years in Maryland where she showed and sold her oil paintings. After moving to NC in 1967, Brydie started working in copper enameling. Brydie was one of the founders of Carolina Designer Craftsmen and served as its first president. Her work was exhibited at the Mint Museum in Charlotte. At the same time she created designs in fabric including fabric boxes. Brydie began exploring watercolors in 1998. She has shown in Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission shows, Art and The Feminine Divine in Durham, NC and is a member of ArtReach which provides fund raisers for local non-profit groups such as Cornucopia House. In July 2007 she had a one-woman show at Orange County Historical Museum in Hillsborough, NC. Statement I am drawn to an exploration of nature but I also want to exploit what my eye sees, pushing the boundaries in both composition and color. I want to invite the viewer to consider the possibilities and spirituality available. Laughter is one of those possibilities. Brydie Palmore email Byrdie Palmore |
