Cydney operates Hot Glass Designs from her home studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Her works range from earrings and pendants to more functional objects like plates, bowls, vases and votives. Though she thoroughly enjoys designing jewelry, creating fused glass art is her passion. It’s a fascinating technique that involves melting hand-cut glass pieces together at high temperatures in an electric kiln. Each piece is created individually for a truly unique design.
As an artist, Cydney’s inspiration comes from many of the colors and forms that surround her in nature. Whether she’s looking at a fern during a hike, or gazing out her studio window at the woods and shimmering creek beyond, she’s always intrigued by the organic and abstract beauty of nature.
Cydney has been pursuing various arts and crafts mediums since she was a young child. With the discovery of fused glass, she has found that perfect creative outlet. “Creating objects with glass has been an incredible and uncontrollable pursuit,” she remarks. “It has become one the most important parts of what makes me who I am.”
