Painting, Sculpture

Born in Mississippi
father worked with railroad then river towboat industry
we moved frequently as new ports opened along the MS river
Mississippi, a complex society
plagued with social and economic problems
Beautiful rich land
stories told in southern dialect, a treasured memory
I’ve a quiet nature; art has always been my form of expression
BFAs in sculpture and painting
Worked as commercial art illustrator, portraiture
After children were born, asked to teach
continued to do so for 18 years
Teaching in schools, privately, performing arts summer program
and as museum studies co-coordinator for Delta State University
Exhibited in galleries throughout Mississippi
chosen as one of 46 artist to represent state in 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans
Moved to North Carolina in 2003
began a wonderful new life with a partner who also loves and is inspirited by this
beautiful environment
I have had the pleasure of exhibiting at NC Crafts gallery in Carrboro and NC Botanical 2006/2007 Sculpture In the Garden Exhibit
We move through life at such a fast pace
My work hopefully emphasizes the resplendence which gives me pause
the resting gesture of a violinist, the joyous abandon of a cellist, the radiance of a tulip
or the intrigue of shadows
I continue to feel “A Sense of Wonder.”
